What is the Difference Between Our Nulok Solar Tiles and Solar Panels?

Both Nulok solar tiles and traditional solar panels are designed to generate solar energy using similar core technologies. However, there are key differences in their installation and integration. Solar panels are typically larger, heavier, and are mounted on top of the roof tiles. In contrast, solar tiles are seamlessly integrated into the roof, sitting alongside traditional slate tiles for a more aesthetic and cohesive look.

Historically, solar panels have demonstrated superior energy generation compared to solar tiles. However, Nulok solar tile matches the energy output of conventional solar panels on the market, making it the leading solar tile on the market today.

How Do Solar Tiles Integrate into a Roof?

The Nulok system has been specifically engineered to facilitate the seamless integration of solar tiles and traditional slate roof tiles. These tiles are designed to slide securely into specially crafted clips, ensuring easy installation and straightforward replacement when necessary. Unlike conventional solar panels, which are mounted on top of the roof, Nulok solar tiles interconnect directly with one another, creating a unified and efficient roofing solution.

Additionally, Nulok solar tiles offer cost-saving benefits, as one solar tile typically replaces the equivalent of three ceramic slate tiles, depending on the size of the tile selected.

What is a Retrofit?

A retrofit refers to the process of upgrading an existing roof that has already been fitted with Nulok slate tiles, which may include some solar tiles. If your energy consumption has increased and you wish to expand your solar capacity, we can assess your current setup and determine how many additional solar tiles can be installed. We will also provide an estimate of the added wattage by replacing standard slate tiles with solar-integrated tiles.

Who Installs the system and solar tiles?

Is the Nulok Product Warranted?

It carries a 30year product warranty.

Can the system work on a very low-pitched roof?

The exclusive Nulok system can be used when the roof pitch is as low as 5 degrees, up to vertical, if required because the tiles are locked in place, unlike other roofing systems the tiles cannot slide or lift off the roof once installed. There are no nails used in the installation of slates and tiles with the Nulok system, which carries a 30year product warranty.
